Address Slowness in Tops

If you have "spinners" as you navigate through Tops, here are some things to look at:

  • Please make sure that your workstations are connected to only Wi-Fi or only ethernet
    • Having Wi-Fi and ethernet connections on a single machine can cause connection problems.
    • If available, ethernet is the recommended network connection method as it is faster and more reliable.
  • Check the energy saver settings for each workstation. See how to do so in the related article below, Optimize Your Workstation Energy Saver Settings.
  • Reboot all workstations. One workstation not operating at optimal speed will hinder the other workstations from being able to read and write to the Tops database.
  • Go to www.speedtest.net and verify your download and upload speeds:
    • For Tops to work efficiently, we require a minimum of 50 mbps download speed and 20 mbps upload speed.
  • Reboot your network devices:
    • Unplug your router, modem, and network switch from the power source.
    • Wait two minutes.
    • Plug in the devices in the following order starting with the modem, router, and then the switch. Allow two minutes in between plugging in each device and allow for an additional five minutes after the final device has been plugged in.

If you have followed all the instructions above and still have slowness in Tops, please give us a call (770-627-2527) or email [email protected]
