Install the System Encryption Key on a New Workstation

When you purchase a new workstation for your practice, you will need to install the System Encryption Key. This encrypts sensitive information, which enables to you add autopay plans and access Off-the-Charts features.


To install the System Encryption Key:

  1. Find a workstation that has it installed already.
  2. To find this out, go to TopsOrtho > Workstation Preferences > Workstation Security and check to see if it states System Encryption Key Installed.
  3. If so, go to Tops Ortho > Practice Setup on that same workstation.
  4. Select Staff/Security and highlight System Encryption Security.
  5. Hit the button labeled Reveal System Encryption Key.
  6. Copy this down and take it to the workstation that needs it installed.

Write down the System Encryption Key with care; it is case-sensitive!

  1. On the new workstation, go to TopsOrtho > Workstation Preferences > Workstation Security and hit the button Install System Encryption Key...
  2. Enter in the System Encryption Key and you're good to go!
