Set Up a Shared Network Folder for X-rays

Any X-ray machine can be used in a practice running Tops Ortho, regardless of whether the X-ray machine is Windows or Mac-based. Here are the guidelines to share with your network technician and/or your X-ray company:

1. Configure the X-ray machine to use the default capture software, such as Sirona, Dimaxis, Romexis, EasyDent, or Dental Imaging Software. A Twain driver will not be installed.

2. Save the images captured with the default X-ray software into a shared network folder on the X-ray capture computer.

3. Verify that the shared folder is configured to be accessible by everyone with no password.

4. If a password is required to access your shared folder, confirm that both the username and password needed are known to you and your team.

5. Mount the shared network folder that was created on the X-ray capture computer onto the desktop of any Tops Ortho workstation in the office.

6. Set the folder to mount automatically in each Tops Ortho workstation's System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items

7. You can now drag and drop the images from the shared folder mounted on the Tops Ortho workstation directly into the patient's chart.
