Automatic Recalls

Some recalls in Tops Ortho generate automatically. Here is how automatic recalls work!

Missed Appointments

  • When a patient misses their appointment, Tops Ortho will automatically generate a recall at rollover.
  • The recall target date will be the date of the missed appointment.
  • You can see the missed appointment and subsequent recall in the Appts/Recalls tab of the patient's chart:

Mark Appointments Missed from Patient Flow to Customize Target Date

  • If you confirm that a patient will not make it to their appointment, you can right-click on the appointment in Patient Flow and mark the appointment as Missed.
  • When you do so, Tops Ortho will display a window asking if you wish to generate a recall.
  • The default date will be today's date; you can overwrite this with a different date if desired.
  • Click Create Recall.

It may be best to manually mark appointments Missed from Patient Flow so you can customize your recall target date. Choose a date that ensures the patient will receive a recall reminder. For example, if your recall reminder settings send messages one week before the recall target date, you will want to enter a date at least one week in the future.
