My patient speaks another language. Can they receive texts in their language?

TopsDPX  can translate direct 1:1 texts to patients received and sent from the Messages (aka Patient Communicator) product in up to 14 different languages.  Check at the linked article titled NEW TopsDPX Translation for Text Messages at the bottom of this page for more information.

TopsDPX can send automated messages such a Reminders and Confirmation Requests in English, French and Spanish. Keep reading to learn more!

In what language are my automatic Tops reminders and notifications sent?

For all automated reminder texts, calls and emails, the patient will receive the communication in their preferred language which is designated in their Tops chart. If the patient's preferred language is not English, Spanish or French, the communication will be sent in the default language of the practice location.

What if my patient is receiving a family reminder and not all family members receiving the reminder share the same preferred language?

Family reminders will go out as the patient's preferred language if all members of the family have the same language set.  If the members of the family have different preferred languages (Ex: Mom and Dad have Spanish, but both kids have English), the automated texts, emails, and calls will be sent in the  default language setting of the practice location.

As a reminder, the Tops DPX languages supported for automated reminders and notifications are English, Spanish and French. If the patient's preferred language is not one of these three, the language of the notification sent will be the practice's preferred language setting.

How do I know the default language of the practice location?

The default language of your office location was configured intially by Tops. If you need to confirm your practice's default language setting, please contact Tops Support at +1 770.627.2527.  T

How do I set up the languages for my Reminders, Notifications, Confirmations, Reviews and Recalls?

There are three language options when creating templates for automated messages.  To view your automated message settings, go to Settings>Templates.  The Schedule, Patient Recall and Review menus allow you to customize by language, each notification type created.  Tops will send the automated message that corresponds with the patient's preferred language, if applicable.  The patient's preferred language is designated in their Tops chart. If the patient's preferred language is not designated, or the preferred language is not English, Spanish or French, Tops will send the message in the practice's default language.

Placeholders used in all templated message will default to the default language of the patient. If the patient's language is not supported by TopsDPX, the placeholders will reflect the default language set for the practice location.

What Tops notifications can be customized by language?

All automated notifications can be configured by language (English, Spanish and French) by editing the templates found in Settings>Templates. Automated messages can be found in the Schedule, Patient Recall and Review menus.
