Treatment Phases Defined

Interceptive First phase of a Two-Phase Treatment:

Use when you know there will be 2 Phases of treatment. Early interceptive treatment often occurs between ages 6-10 before permanent teeth have erupted. Estimated Tx time 9-18 months

Comprehensive Second Phase Treatment:

Follows Interceptive First Phase of a Two-Phase Treatment. Often occurs between the ages of 11-13 when most permanent teeth have erupted. Estimated Tx time 12-18 months.

Comprehensive Treatment:

Completely corrects bite problems from start-to-finish in one stage. It is appropriate for young adults and children who have lost all or almost all of their baby teeth.

Comprehensive Surgical Orthodontic Treatment:

Used to correct severe cases that include bad bites, jaw bone abnormalities, and malocclusion. Both the jaw and teeth alignment will be corrected when combing braces and surgery.

Limited Treatment:

Limited orthodontic treatment, as the name suggests, may include any number of bite alignment treatment plans that target a limited area of the mouth. This can include aligning just the front teeth or just the back teeth, addressing concerns with crowding, reducing too-large gaps between teeth, or other issues that do not affect the entire bite. These treatments are typically completed in a relatively short period of time between 3-18 months.

TMD Treatment:

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder treatment

Fixed Habit Appliance:

Fixed Appliances help to repress and eventually eliminate harmful habits. (Tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, snoring, and sleep apnea)

Removable Habit Appliance:

Removable Appliances help to repress and eventually eliminate harmful habits. (Tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, snoring, and sleep apnea)

Monitor Development:

Allows you to monitor dental development, screen for any growth issues, and determine the most appropriate time to begin treatment of any issues found. The American Association of orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic evaluation by age 7.
